Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan has made headlines by purchasing a plot worth тВ╣14.5 crore in Ayodhya, where he plans to build a home. The plot is located in The Sarayu, a 7-star mixed-use enclave in Ayodhya, developed by The House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL).
The Sarayu is set to be inaugurated on 22 January, the same day as the Ram Mandir тАШPran PrathistaтАЩ ceremony will take place in Ayodhya. Speaking about his investment in the project, Amitabh Bachchan said, тАЬI am looking forward to building my home in the global spiritual capital.тАЭ
The plot measures around 10,000 square feet and is part of the plotted development of The Sarayu. The enclave will also include a five-star palace hotel in partnership with Brookfield group-owned Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts. The Sarayu is spread over 51 acres and is located about 15 minutes away from the Ram temple and 30 minutes away from the Ayodhya international airport.
According to reports, Ayodhya has been witnessing massive infrastructure development since 2019, when the Supreme Court awarded the title of the site that housed the Babri Masjid to the Hindus. With a corresponding spike in land prices within the city and on its outskirts towards Lucknow and Gorakhpur, Amitabh BachchanтАЩs investment in The Sarayu is believed to be a strategic move.
The veteran actor was born in Allahabad (now Prayagraj) and has a special connection with Ayodhya, which he referred to as тАЬthe timeless spirituality and cultural richnessтАЭ of the city that resonates with him deeply. His investment in The Sarayu is scheduled to be completed by March 2028.
