Haridwar, Jan 11, 2024: In a significant development, Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati, the shankaracharya of Jyotish Peeth in Uttarakhand, has revealed that four prominent shankaracharyas will abstain from participating in the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22.
Defying Tradition and Urgency
Earlier this week, the shankaracharya of Puri Gowardhanpeeth, Swami Nishchalanand Saraswati, expressed his decision not to attend the event, emphasizing a departure from scriptural teachings.
Violation of Sanatan Dharma Rules
Addressing reporters in Haridwar, Avimukteshwaranand stated that the crucial Hindu religious gurus are avoiding the grand ceremony due to perceived violations of the rules of Sanatan Dharma, as reported by The Telegraph.
Idol Installation and Temple Construction
Avimukteshwaranand elaborated that their decision is grounded in Hindu religious norms, highlighting concerns about installing idols of Lord Ram before completing the temple’s construction. He asserted that there is no need to rush the process and emphasized the significance of patience in this regard.
Not Anti-Modi, but Upholding Dharma Shastra
Dismissing any political motivation, Avimukteshwaranand clarified, “We are not anti-Modi, but at the same time, we also canтАЩt go against our Dharma Shastra.тАЭ The seer stressed that their primary concern is adherence to religious principles.
Grand Event and Political Dynamics
The ceremony has invited thousands, including celebrities, saints, and politicians, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi set to be the chief guest. However, concerns persist over the potential inauguration of an incomplete temple.
Skanda Purana and Construction Update
Swami Nishchalanand had earlier warned about bad omens entering an idol if rituals are not performed properly, referencing Skanda Purana. The temple trust claims the first floor and sanctum sanctorum are ready, projecting the temple’s full construction over the next two years.
Congress Stance
On Wednesday, Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury announced their non-participation, accusing the BJP of political opportunism.
The developments surrounding the shankaracharyas’ decision bring to light the intricate interplay of religious beliefs, temple construction, and political dynamics surrounding the much-anticipated Ram Mandir event.
